"Compassion" Call Sign

Flights for Life pilots may use a “Compassion” call sign. The proper prefix for the COMPASSION call sign is CMF – Charlie Mike Foxtrot.
To use the Compassion call sign:

  • - The Pilot in Command (PIC) must be an active Flights for Life Pilot.

  • - The aircraft must have on board at least one box of blood related product.

  • - Your aircraft must be equipped with a pilot programmable ADS-B Out Transponder/Device, allowing the pilot to change the flight ID.

  • Most ADS-B units are pilot-programmable, but some may need to have the functionality enabled by an avionics technician. Flights for Life recommends consulting your ADS-B manual or avionics technician for instructions on how to change the Flight ID.

  • Air Care Alliance is the administrator of the COMPASSION call sign and grants its use to Flights for Life. Pilots who would like to have the COMPASSION (CMF) option, must register for a unique CMF call sign by completing a form at this link: https://www.aircarealliance.org/register/pilot-membership/  (Make a note of this URL, rather than interrupt your course).
Once Flights for Life validates that the requesting pilot is an active member, a call sign will be issued.

Compassion (CMF) call sign procedures are maintained at: https://www.aircarealliance.org/cmfprocedures/  (Make a note of this URL, rather than interrupt your course).
