Unscheduled Missions, Continued
The pilot assigned to an unscheduled flight will call the dispatcher and arrange for a time and place to pick up the blood to be delivered.
After picking up the blood, the pilot will give the driver an ETA for the destination airport. The pilot should obtain the destination airport contact point— courier and/or telephone number.

At the destination airport, if the blood pickup driver has not arrived within 15 minutes of your arrival, call the local courier or contact point and if a significant delay is expected, and you are unable to wait, inform the dispatcher.
If there is a safe place to leave the blood once it is delivered, advise your dispatcher, and return home. (Lab dispatcher phone numbers are found on each Airport Page, found in the Flights for Life Member Area). Never leave blood deliveries without notifying your dispatcher or the organization responsible for receiving the delivery.
