Taxes
When filing taxes, some FFL members may be able to take a charitable deduction. FFL provides the Blood Organizations (Vitalant, Oklahoma Blood Institute, etc.), with FFL’s estimate of "in kind" contributions to the Blood Organization.
-
In addition, FFL provides an estimated “in kind” contribution value for each member. This value is calculated using:
*For rental aircraft: The costs that members submit on their mission reports.
*For owned aircraft: A Civil Air Patrol formula which uses the number of engines, horsepower, and whether or not the engine(s) are turbocharged. This value is then multiplied by the flight hours that you submitted on your mission reports.
-
When filing taxes, some members use these “donation” values as part of their charitable contribution entries. However, it is FFL’s intent to provide these values for record keeping purposes and not as tax advice. It is the responsibility of each member to work with his or her tax advisor and decide how to handle this matter.
